茶だんご
茶だんご － 初夏を味わう小旅行
♪夏も近づく八十八夜、野にも山にも若葉が茂る・・・♪
童謡「茶摘み」の一節ですが、
立春から数えて八十八日目にあたる５月２日ごろ、
新茶の摘み取りが始まります。
GWにあたるこの時期、私の楽しみは、
新茶の香りと茶だんごを食する小旅行です。
京阪電車の宇治駅で降り、宇治川にかかる宇治橋を渡り、
平等院表参道に足を踏み入れると、
新茶を挽いた香ばしさが漂ってきます。
参道には沢山の茶舗が軒をならべ、新茶や茶だんご、
抹茶を使ったスイーツなどを販売しています。
お気に入りの店先に座り、
初夏の爽やかな風を感じながら頂く茶だんごの味は格別です。

“Chadango” or rice dumpling
flavored with “maccha” or powdered tea leaves
As is sung in “Chatsumi or picking tea leaves,” a children’s song,
picking the first new tea leaves starts around May02,
when is the 88th day counting from on “Risshun”
or setting of spring on the lunar calendar.
As the day falls on the so-called Golden week period,
I take advantage of it to make a day trip to enjoy
a cup of tea made with the new tea leaves with Chadango.
Taking Keihan lines to drop off at Uji station,
walking on the Uji Bridge to cross the Uji River,
and walking on to the approach to Byodoin temple,
a world heritage, pleasant-smelling of newly kneaded
or ground new tea leaves hangs in the air.
Along the both sides of the approach,
there are a lot of tea shops and stores,
selling new tea leaves, Chadango,
and many types of sweet using powdered tea leaves
as flavor or as an ingredient.
The taste of Chadango is particularly enjoyable,
eaten sitting in a fresh early summer breeze
at a favorite store.

ミミロッコのギャラリールーム紹介
当館のギャラリーを御存じですか。
ミミロッコの玄関の左側のガラス窓の中にあるんです。
新しくピクチャーレールを取り付けて、
ステキな絵が見やすいようにとレイアウトを考えています。
そのステキな絵・書は、ダウン症の書道家“隅野由子”さんのものです。
シンプルな言葉ながら心にひびく言葉ばかりです。
ちょっと足を止めてのぞいて見てください。

We Mimilocco have a gallery, which is located at the left-hand corner, facing the façade, surrounded by several panes of glass.
We are designing a new layout for the pictures to be seen nicely, by newly installing a rail from which to hang the pictures.
These impressive pictures and words are the works by Ms. Yuko SUMINO, a great calligrapher though she has a disability called Down Syndrome.
Her words are simple, but they touch us to the heart.
